Musical impression from the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. Dance of the Mountain Raindrops refers to a gentle, warm, summer rain falling over the lush vegetation of the Great Smokies, wilderness in which the composer has spent many hours and hiked many miles. Tubing the Townsend 'Y' depicts riding truck inner-tubes down the white water of the mountain creeks. The Townsend 'Y' is the Y formed by the confluence the Little River and the Little Pigeon River, two mountain rivers in the Great Smokies next to the town of Townsend.
